Dr. A.B. CHITRA was born on 3rd January. Here academic qualifications started with MBBS graduatation from MADURAI MEDICAL COLLEGE, did her post graduation M.D(O.G) from SRI RAMACHANDRA MEDICAL COLLEGE. She has done her DNB from JIPMER, Pondicherry, and was awarded MNAMS for her distinction in the NATIONAL BOARD EXAMS FROM THE DELHI BOARD in OBS AND GYNEA. She has done here POSTGRADUATE diploma IN HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT from the ANNAMALAI UNIVERSITY in 2008. She got her DIPLOMA IN LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY FROM KEIL UNIVERSITY, GERMANY IN 2010, followed by FICMCH (Fellow of INDIAN COLLEGE OF MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH). Her latest one is in 2015 FICOG( Fellow of INDIAN COLLEGE OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY). She has been awarded FICMCH IN 2013 from INDIAN COLLEGE OF MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH for updated maternal and childcare. She has also received her FICOG in 2015 at the ALL INDIA CONFERENCE for the maximum number of National & International papers presented in various forums from the INDIAN COLLEGE OF OBSTERICS AND GYNECOLOGY. She started her professional career from JIPMER from 2000, as a Senior REGISTRAR and has vast teaching and surgical experience at JIPMER. She then moved off to UK for her training in HYSTERO-LAPAROSCOPY at NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY, and started her own private practice in her home town at RAJAPALAYAM. She has now completed almost 2 decades of her private practice and also a visiting consultant at APOLLO HOSPITALS every FRIDAYs since the last 10 years.
She has actively participated in various gynec and obstetric workshops at NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL FORUMS, and presented talks and papers on numerous women’s health related issues. Her special interests are HIGH RISK OBSTETRICS, SAFE MOTHER HOOD, OPERATIVE LAPAROSCOPY AND UROGYNECOLOGY, She has been one of the panelists at the NATIONAL CONVENTION FOR WOMEN DOCTORS at NEWDELHI on SAFE MOTHER HOOD in 2005. Last paper at INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF GESTATIONAL TROPHOBLASTIC DISEASES at BUDAPEST 2012 on an interesting case of CHORIOCARCINOMA. She has significantly contributed to create a health awareness in her regular SPECIAL CLINICS VIZ “SLIMMING CLINIC” every Tuesdays, where she emphasizes the impact of obesity on present day women and also gives treatment for the same. In her “MENOPAUSE CLINICS” every Thursdays, she aims on OSTEOPOROSIS FREE LIVING AFTER 40 YRS and “ADOLESCENT CLINIC” every 2nd and 4th Saturday deals with various adolescent related issues. HIGH RISK OBSTETICS CLINIC on all Mondays, Wednesdays and other Saturdays. Her latest women wellness programme “SOHL”, -Secret Of Healthy Living, started from 2017 May onwards includes batch wise training classes conducted on regular basis for specially weight loss and fitness to stay healthy and disease free. The Specialty of the programme is it caters to all pregnant women too with a holistic Yoga and functional training to achieve the most rewarding ‘Labour Natural”. She is well known for her updated academic approach to patient management and counselling.
